Prior to forming Akoya Capital, Max spent over 20 years in talent acquisition, assessment and human capital consulting, most as the founder and leader of the Carlyle Group, a leading Midwest boutique retained executive search and consulting firm. In 1998, Max sold Carlyle Group to The Whitney Group, creating a top-ten global executive search firm with eight offices worldwide. During his tenure with The Whitney Group, he was elected vice chairman and served on Whitney’s board of directors and lead their global private equity practice.

Max is an active member of the Family Office Club, Association for Corporate Growth, and Vistage, a peer mentoring group for CEO’s. Additionally, Max works closely with our portfolio companies Edge Adhesives and NSA Industries. Max is also the former Chairman of the Century Foundation, a non-profit board focused on the development of Lane Tech College Prep High School and remains actively involved on the board.

Prior to private equity investing he spent fourteen years in leveraged finance with major investment banks including Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette, Smith Barney, Inc. and L.F. Rothschild and Co., Inc.

Mr. Marcus received an M.B.A. from the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University and has a B.S. degree in Accounting from The Martin J. Whitman School of Management, Syracuse University.

He has 27+ years of experience in C-level management, private equity, family office, and institutional investing and portfolio management. In addition, Mr. Parro has considerable expertise in the strategic development and integration of both start-ups and acquired companies both domestically and internationally.

For the past 8 years Mr. Parro has owned and operated an independent sponsor private equity investment group. In that 8 years has invested in 3 platform companies. He has develop an extensive network of investment bankers, brokers, lawyers, accountants and consultants that provide the opportunity to review over 700 investment opportunities a year in various industries and platforms.

Prior to MERK, Mr. Parro led the mergers & acquisitions effort at Globe Union Industrial Inc. (“Globe Union”). He was instrumental in growing Globe Union from a private label $125 million single product line company to a $750 million branded broad based product line company over a five year period with operations that included North America, Europe, Taiwan, and China.

Mr. Parro also led the mergers & acquisitions effort for Field Container Co. (“Field Container”). He was instrumental in acquiring numerous companies that help grow Field Container from $350 million to $500 million over a five year period.

His primary responsibilities were integration of the companies in all facets of the operations including, manufacturing, sales and marketing, administrative services, and IT.

While at the financial services division of GE Capital for approximately eight years, Mr. Parro managed numerous strategies that led to the growth of various companies through both organic as well as acquisitions.

Gretchen is responsible for managing Huron’s business development and investment sourcing activities and is also involved in investor relations.

Gretchen is a member of the Detroit chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth, is Treasurer for United Cerebral Palsy of Detroit, is a Mentor for Endeavor Detroit, which leads high-impact entrepreneurship involvement in Michigan, and is a Mentor for the Women of Tomorrow organization which mentors at-risk high school girls.

Prior to founding Clavis, Todd served as the Chief Executive Officer of EFI Electronics, an industry leading manufacturer of electrical protection products where he led his firm to record revenues and profitability for four straight years. In 2010, Todd initiated a merger of EFI with Schneider Electric. Previously, Todd served as a Partner with Aster Capital, a $200m growth investment fund and has served in various strategic and operating roles at leading firms such as Schneider Electric, Rockwell Automation and Deloitte Consulting throughout his career.

 

Todd received a BA in Finance from Texas A&M University and an MBA with honors from the University of Notre Dame. He is the founder of the Independent Sponsors Organization of Dallas (ISOD) and is an active member of the Young President’s Organization. He resides in Dallas with his wife and two children.
